About: Kochere is a small district within the Yirgacheffe coffee-growing region in the Gedeo Zone of southern Ethiopia, located about 250 miles southwest of Addis Ababa. It lies just south of the town of Yirgacheffe, a key hub for coffee production. Kochere has washing stations where local farmers process their coffee cherries, essential for producing the region's renowned washed coffees. The area’s iron-rich, acidic soil and high altitude (1,800 to 2,100 meters) create ideal conditions for growing specialty coffee, known for its vibrant, floral, citrus, and tea-like flavors.
